Welcome to 150 East 61st Street. We have 100% owner occupancy and a great community inside a lovely building. The staff is friendly, courteous and professional and the owners work together to make it a great place to live. There is a mix of young and old, families with kids of all ages, new owners and those who have been here for a long time.
We renovated the lobby and hallways last year with fantastic results. Currently we are finishing an exterior inspection/renovation that will put all major projects behind us and leave the building in great shape.
About the Building
150 East 61st street is a handsome white brick building that was built in 1960. It was converted to cooperative ownership in 1973. There are 16 stories and 131 apartments.
All apartments in the building are known for generous layouts and ample closet space. Some apartments feature terraces and open unobstructed views. Also, a number of owners have combined apartments with great results.
The building features a full-time doorman, live-in super, central laundry room, bike room, private storage and garage for additional fee. It's a pet friendly building and pied-a-terres are allowed on a case by case basis.
About the Neighborhood
It is hard to find a more convenient location, even in Manhatten. We are next to the 4/5/6 and N/R subways lines and a short walk from the F and E lines. This makes it simple to get anywhere. Also, with Central Park only three blocks away, we have a very big "frontyard" to take advantage of.
The block itself is tree lined and we are steps away from restaurants, shopping and all basic conveniences.
We are a land lease building. This means we lease the underlying land and building from a landlord. This scares some buyers and attorneys, however, we just renegotiated and extended the lease until 2109. This was a big milestone for the building and we feel great about the land lease.
Our holiday party and coop meetings bring the owners together periodically and there a great many friendships inside the building. It is a great oasis in the heart of the greatest city in the world.
